I know and trust that I know

Holistically Honey is a space for encouragement, self-care, and natural wellness as we learn to move through life with intention and grace

Peace and Blessings,

I was once presented with the statement, “Just trust yourself for once.” Immediately, I became defensive. I explained how I rely on my decision making daily. How I am constantly making decisions for myself and others.

They responded, “That doesn’t mean you trust yourself,” and left me with my own stubbornness.

Needless to say, what I was working on took even longer because I kept repeating steps and checking things I already knew. I have always heard people say it’s a Virgo trait to seek perfection, but honestly, I have found that for me it comes from insecurity within myself. Insecurities rooted in trusting myself.

Rebuilding Trust

There are so many exercises centered around trusting a partner, but how often do we practice trusting ourselves fully?

Part of rebuilding self-trust is forgiving yourself for your past. Not constantly holding onto mistakes, but owning them and recognizing where you were not your best self. It is apologizing to yourself for the errors you have made while understanding that mistakes are also part of growth and knowledge.

It is equally important to recognize your evolution. Acknowledge where you have grown. You are not the same version of yourself that once misused your self-trust. We are constantly evolving.

Keep Promises to Yourself

One of the easiest ways to rebuild self-trust is by keeping promises to yourself. Not to be confused with goals.

Promises can be as small as completing a daily task or as large as staying away from a place, person, or habit that no longer serves you. The idea is to believe in what you are capable of doing.

Self-trust helps guide you toward promises that truly align with your energy and capacity. You may realize promising yourself two liters of water every day feels overwhelming right now, while committing to drinking water with two meals feels achievable.

Knowing which promises are realistic for you allows you to keep them consistently, and consistency builds trust.

Consistency, Not Perfection

Healing in all aspects of life requires consistency, not perfection.

There is no universal standard for what perfection looks like because all of our journeys are unique to our paths, choices, and experiences. The goal is not to become perfect. The goal is to keep going and strive to be a little better than you were before.

Intuition

That inner voice guiding you is asking you to believe in it.

Our minds and bodies constantly communicate with us, attempting to guide us toward the choices that align with us most. Self-trust allows you to listen when your intuition says, “This could be great,” just as much as when it warns, “This is not right for me.”

Self-trust, overall, is believing in your own abilities, decisions, and inner knowing. Trust begins within, and eventually it reflects in your environment as well. Trusting your intuition gives you discernment, and discernment helps guide you toward environments where you are able to thrive.

Honey
